about
Recorded at a "Strangewaves/Fort Elgin" House Show on November 25th, 2016. All sounds were improvised and recorded in real time with no prerecorded samples, and yes "Chocolate vs Almonds" (the official candy of Dad vs Son) were being sold at the bands merch table.
This show was extra special because Dad vs Son was opening for Sandro Perri's "Off World" project. Sandro has been a big influence on this Father/Son duo:
"I like it! It sounds like an octopus song." That is what 11 year old Ethan (The drum machine half of Dad vs Son) uses as a benchmark for a good jam. “Octopus song” is a reference to the Sandro Perri/Polmo Polpo album “The Science of Breath,” with an impressive photo of an octopus on the cover. Ethan has been listening to that “Octopus CD” since he was 7.
In the Neudorf household, everyone gets a turn to pick the music the family listens to. One time looking through his Dad's CD collection Ethan found a picture of an octopus and said “I want listen to that.” They put it on and something clicked for that little boy. When Ethan was asked what he liked about it, he would say “It sounds like it’s under water.” Dad is quick to point out "That may be true but I think he also enjoyed that this strange music really bothered his big sister." How punk rock of him.
